GU12 Jorja Wadman, Mount Pearl
This is Jorja's first year playing PYL and it is off to a very successful start! Jorja continues to be
committed to learning the goalkeeper role and always displays great dedication when it comes
to training. If she continues to work hard, she will surely have a bright future as a goalie and
team leader ahead of her!
BU12 Reid Turpin, CBS
It would be easy to say that Reid shows up early for practice, puts in 100% and is a leader on and off the
field. Instead we let the team vote for the player that embodied sportsmanship, talent, hard work and a
willingness to leave everything on the pitch. His teammates said that they would be sad if Reid did not
show up to a practice or a game…. That says it all!
GU13 Avery Strong CBS Strikers
A midfielder from CBS, Avery shows up to practices ready to work. She is very coachable and
understands what it means to be a good teammate. She puts in a high level of effort in training, and
it translates to her strong performances on the field. Avery also plays attacking-mid with U13 NLSA
team and plays Junior Prospects with Whitecaps. A multi-sport athlete, Avery also plays U13 AAA and
AA Girls Hockey and is a member of the Frank Roberts Junior High Soccer, hockey and volleyball teams.
B13 Luke Fahey Paradise

currently has a record of 4-0 and Luke has scored 11 goals in four games. Luke is also a member of the
U13 NLSA team that will be travelling to Montreal from July 6-9, 2023. Luke has been a member of the
NLSA and Whitecaps programs for the last three years. Outside of soccer, Luke enjoys playing hockey
and basketball.
GU15 Tier 1 Millie Janes, CBS Kirby Group Strikers
Millie is a shifty, energetic and goal-oriented striker. She has had a great start to the 2023 season with 6
goals in 3 games. Millie is part of the Whitecaps program, is also a member of the GU14 Provincial
Team, and was 1 of 5 GU14 players asked to play up with the GU15 team at Umbro earlier this
month. She also scored a goal at Umbro!
GU15 Tier 2 Maggie Thistle, Feildians
Maggie’s hard work and dedication to training has seen her excel in the sport she loves. Maggie
is coachable, has natural ability and vision for the game. Her positive attitude, skill and work
ethic make her a key asset on the team. Maggie is a multi sport athlete including volleyball,
basketball, and soccer.
BU15 Tier 1 Brandon Philpott, MPSA
A midfielder from Mount Pearl, Brandon made his mark through strong attack and defence during the
month of May. Technically capable and physically fit, Brandon respects his opposition, while working
hard to achieve team objectives.
BU15 Tier 2 Sam Downey, CBS
Sam Downey is a midfielder with the CBS Strikers BU15 T2 team. His goals, assists and overall
contribution in the middle of the field helped his team to a perfect 4-0 record in the month of May.
GU17 Ella Malone, Feildians
Ella is a member of the FAA GU17 team as well as the NLSA GU16 team and the U18 Whitecaps
Prospects Program. Ella played a big role in the success of her FAA team in the month of May helping the
team to a 1-1-1 record and second place in the league. She scored two goals in the season opening win
over Mt. Pearl. Ella's intensity, communication and ability to direct in the center midfield has helped the
team be successful in the center of the pitch in our games so far this season. Her aggressive defending
and smart positioning kept opponents on their toes and reduced their ability to effectively move the
ball, which played a big role in her team’s 1-1 tie with Paradise and a hard fought 1-0 loss to St. John's.
BU17 Tier 1 Lincoln Silver, Paradise
With 3 shutouts in 3 games, Lincoln Silver of Paradise Soccer Club is the NLSA Player of the Month for
the month of May. While being a great shot-stopper, Lincoln also builds the attack out from the back for
his Paradise teammates. Lincoln also represents Newfoundland and Labrador at his age level.
BU17 Tier 2 Brady Purchase, Feildians
Although relatively new to the high-level game Brady's high intensity high speed approach is always a
threat to defenders. Brady is also a very good teammate and was an easy choice as captain as he
consistently brings players together with his easy-going nature and positive attitude. Way to go Brady!
