The Newfoundland and Labrador Soccer Association (NLSA) is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Technical Performance Coordinator to join our team. This position plays a vital role in supporting the implementation and growth of our technical programs, designed to elevate the skills of players and coaches across the province.

Title: Technical Performance Coordinator (Interim)

Summary:  The Technical Performance Coordinator supports the implementation and growth of the technical programs of the NLSA of the Newfoundland and Labrador Soccer Association (“NLSA”) that grows the technical skills of players and coaches throughout the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The Technical Performance Coordinator reports to the Technical Director of the NLSA.

Roles and Responsibilities 

  • In collaboration with the Technical Director and associated organization representatives lead in the planning and delivery of technical programs and events.
    • Support technical programs communication.
    • Manage registrations and schedules for NLSA technical programs (outside competitions): tryouts, etc.
    • Assist in the observation and reporting of player identification for soccer player identification and evaluation events.
    • Participate in ongoing personal training and/or performance improvement plans as required.
    • Follow the performance planning and appraisal process.
    • Manage,guide and support Provincial Team Managers.
    • Manage all logistics of technical programs including teams travel, facility bookings, registration databases.
    • Maintain the NLSA website for technical programs and manage the TeamSnap software.
  • Provide support to technical staff in member clubs:
    • Maintain a close relationship with members to encourage adherence to standards and appropriate communication with the relevant clubs.
    • Support NLSA Soccer members in their player identification and evaluation processes for NLSA technical programs selection.
  • Provide support in the delivery of coaching programs:
    • Support staff coaching applications and coaching requirements.
    • Support the NLSA coaching courses and assessments and deliver some of them when appropriate, in close collaboration with the Technical Director.
    • Support tracking NCCP coaching records.
  • Promote a positive, safe, healthy corporate/team environment that is conducive to high morale and satisfactory interaction between all employees (Safe Sport).
  • Sit on any NLSA Committee when required.
  • Reporting:
    • Participate in bi-weekly staff meetings and inform staff on productivity in defined areas of responsibility.
    • Monitor and report on activities and provide relevant management information to the Technical Director.
    • Submit complete and accurate monthly reports, plans, and expense reports.
  • Other duties as required and assigned by the Technical Director.

Qualifications:

  • Education
    • Canada Soccer Youth Licence, or C Licence or Higher Certification.
    • Sports management certification or qualifications.
    • Relevant current required NCCP certification courses.
    • Current Police Background check
    • Clean driving abstract.
    • Canadian work permit (where applicable) and Valid Passport
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities
    • Should have Five (5) or more years of experience coaching players of all levels of soccer.
    • Experience in creating, implementing, and evaluating multi-year development plans for grassroots programs.
    • Knowledge of current provincial challenges and opportunities relating to the mission of the association
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is necessary (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Must demonstrate the ability to work with volunteers in a not-for profit environment
    • Knowledge of financial management is an asset.
    • Superior communication skills are essential for this high-profile position.
    • Can work with minimal supervision.
    • Strong presentation and public speaking skills
    • Must be well organized with excellent time management skills.
    • Booking facilities for the programs
    • Responsible for team travel, flights, hotels.
